Advanced Level

Rescue Diver Course

It is the best course you could take. “Challenging”, “demanding” and “rewarding” best describe the PADI Rescue Diver course. Building upon what you’ve already learned to prevent problems, and how to manage them if they occur.

What You Learn

KNOWLEDGE DEVELOPMENT

You study in your own time using the Rescue Diver manual and then meet with an instructor to go over the knowledge reviews in the Rescue Diver manual, complete the final exam (multiple choice) and make sure you have a sound understanding of all the topics.

Topics include self rescue, diver stress, diving first aid, emergency management and equipment considerations.

CONFINED WATER TRAINING SESSIONS

There are pool training sessions supported by independent study consisting of a total of 10 skills in pool, confined or open water, from shore or boat.

OPEN WATER SCENARIOS

There are 4 open water scenarios where you put everything you learnt in confined water to practice! These take the form of realistic practice emergencies in the open water dive environment.

  • Self rescue
  • Rescuing Tired diver
  • Rescuing panicked divers
  • Response from shore or boat with both a responsive and unresponsive diver
  • Surfacing the unresponsive diver
  • exiting the unresponsive diver
  • The psychology of rescue
  • Distressed diver underwater
  • Missing diver
  • Recognizing and managing stress in other divers
  • Emergency management and equipment
  • Accident management
  • Preparation for emergencies
  • First aid for pressure related injuries and oxygen administration

This program has been updated to include all the latest developments in rescue training. This 4 days course improves your diving skills and has modules that teach you to look beyond yourself to consider the safety and well-being of Family, friends and other divers who will always feel more assured knowing they are diving with a PADI Rescue Diver The course readies you to help prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies using a variety of techniques.

Prerequisites

To enroll in the PADI Rescue Diver course, you must

  • Be 12 years or older
  • Have a PADI Adventure Diver  certification (or have a qualifying certification from another organization)
  • 20 logged dives
  • Have completed a PADI Emergency First Response course  within 24 months, or an equivalent 'accepted' certification including primary care (CPR) and secondary care (First Aid) within 24 months. Which we do provide at Pirates Diving Network.

  • EFR manual: c. €45
  • Certification fee: 50

At Pirates Diving Network We have an on-site confined water training area so this will give you the best conditions to master new techniques and motor skills, and with a variety of boats you really get a good opportunity to practise different exit techniques for unresponsive divers.

As a Rescue Diver you are one step closer to PADI Master Scuba Diver status or following a professional dive career with the PADI Dive Master course. This course is required as a prerequisite to begin professional training as a PADI Dive Master. 

After becoming certified, join our PADI Master Scuba Diver Course or the PADI Dive Master Course.
